While accountants assist with preparation and submission, you are legally responsible for your tax affairs.
This includes:
- Paying tax on time
- Reading HMRC letters
- Monitoring your HMRC gateway
- Contacting HMRC if you cannot pay
Accountants won’t:
- Monitor client’s HMRC account
- Chase unpaid tax bills
- Intercept HMRC correspondence
If you have a payment issue or a query, you must contact HMRC directly as soon as possible.
